The Schonell Spelling age test provides an accurate measure of a child’s spelling ability according to the sequence most spelling programs would follow. About two-thirds of pupils will have standardised scores between 85 and 115 and scores within this range can be broadly described as ‘average’. The average standardised score is set at 100, based on the performance of a nationally representative sample.
